About Me

I have over fifteen years of experience in field service, eight of which were spent in the field in diverse service industries. You learn a lot about the human condition doing this. I've delivered flowers to guys who were banging some other girl on Valentine's Day. I've dropped off Grandpa's prescriptions at the nursing home that year his kids decided it was more appropriate to spend Christmas skiing in Vail and shared a slice of hot pizza with college guys who had smoked so much pot that they tipped me a $50 instead of five bucks. I've installed your cable, and taught people with more money than brains how to run their own remote on their plasma HDTV. The next day, the same bastards wanted me to come back, so that they could complain that "It's a Wonderful Life" wasn't in high-def.

For the last seven years, I worked to implement and support mobile workforce management software for a top-10 US cable company. This role was once a ideal entry to the corporate world, but it quickly transformed into a daily nightmare. Opportunities were mismanaged, projects were late and broken, and  the good employees started jumping ship like rats off the Titanic. Looking back, it was a train wreck like every other paralyzed corporate entity. I'll be sure to share the Greatest Hits compilation as future posts.

So what to do? I'm good at field service; it comes naturally. I can look at a complex problem, take it home with me, drink a six-pack of beer at home under my shade tree, and come in the next morning with a complete solution. So, of course, I've chosen to go into consulting. That's right; I'll work the same bullshit problems with the same managers and directors, but for several times the money. But I'll share my rants and raves here with you for a greatly discounted rate!
